Rhinoplasty is a type of surgery that aims to improve the appearance and shape of the nose, one of the most prominent parts of the face. Since the nose is at the center of the face, rhinoplasty surgeries can increase people's self-confidence and make them feel more satisfied. Among these surgeries, procedures that can be called "mini rhinoplasty" performed to correct the deformities of the nose are quite common. This method usually does not require intervention in the nasal bone and cartilage structure, but aims to correct aesthetic problems at the tip of the nose.
These procedures are also called "tipplasty" or "minor rhinoplasty". In such procedures, it is used in cases where the bone structure of the nose is normal but there are deformities at the tip of the nose. Such deformities can be problems such as asymmetry of the tip of the nose, width, drooping or looking like a tightened clothespin. These procedures are usually performed with minimally invasive techniques and the postoperative recovery period may be shorter.

HOW IS NOSE TIP AESTHETICS PERFORMED?
Nasal tip aesthetics can be performed with different methods according to the needs of the patient. In the closed technique, the operation time is shorter and the healing process is accelerated, while in the open technique, the experience of the doctor gains importance because the surgeon's control area is more limited. While rhinoplasty surgeries take an average of 2-2.5 hours in total, this period can be shortened to 30 to 60 minutes if only the tip of the nose is to be shaped. Sedation or local anesthesia can be used during surgery and patients are usually discharged the same day. With nasal tip aesthetics, various interventions can be performed such as thinning, lifting, angle change, bringing forward, correcting deformities in the nostrils or removing the excess in the wings of the nose.
DOES THE TIP OF THE NOSE FALL AGAIN AFTER SURGERY?
"Will my nose tip fall off after surgery?" is a very curious subject. As we age, a slight downward movement can be observed in the facial tissues and the tip of the nose due to the effect of gravity. Factors such as the thickness of the nasal skin, weight changes and a naturally low nose structure can affect the degree of this drop. Especially for those with thick skin or when the skin on the face begins to sag with age, a low nose tip may become more prominent. In the first period after surgery, the nasal tissues usually harden and therefore the nose takes on a more upturned appearance. In patients with thin skin and under 40 years of age, a major change in the tip of the nose is not expected.
However, in patients over the age of 40, if the skin is thick and the preoperative nasal structure is large compared to the face, there may be a slight drop. In this case, surgeons usually prefer to remove skin from the wings of the nose or the lower part of the tip of the nose to prevent further skin removal. This minimizes the risk of scarring on the suture line. An important point to remember is how the surgeon's experience and the patient's personal factors can influence the outcome.
THINGS TO CONSIDER AFTER NOSE TIP AESTHETICS
Sports and Strenuous Activities: It is important to stay away from heavy and strenuous sports for a while after surgery. To support healing in the surgical site, activities that are too demanding on the body should be avoided.
Glasses Use: If glasses are worn after surgery, it is recommended to prefer light and supportive frames instead of heavy framed models. This can reduce the pressure on the nose.
Tooth Brushing: Care should be taken when brushing your teeth. Especially in the first postoperative period, excessive pressure on the face should be avoided.
Swimming and Contact with Water: It is recommended to avoid activities that require contact with water such as swimming for a while after surgery. This is important to support the healing process and reduce the risk of possible infection.
Straining movements of the nose: Straining movements such as blowing the nose should be avoided. Such movements may disturb the tissues inside the nose after surgery.
Sunlight It is also important to avoid sunlight. During the recovery period after surgery, you can use a hat and sunscreen to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun.
